The foundation of the vigilius mountain resort is its ecological mindset. The promise to nature is visible in every detail of Italy’s first ClimateHouse A–certified hotel and can be felt at all times through the use of natural materials. Despite its exposed location, the building’s construction ensures a very low heating energy demand. From the very beginning, it was clear that heating would rely on biomass, using wood chips sourced from mountain farmers in the immediate surroundings. This is just one of the many ways in which we act in harmony with our closest environment, creating a symbiosis of modern design, comfort and sustainability.

The vigilius mountain resort was designed by Matteo Thun as a sustainable mountain hotel in South Tyrol. The architecture consistently follows the landscape of the Vigiljoch, integrating the building discreetly into its natural surroundings. Larch wood, glass, natural stone and clay form the core palette of materials, clearly and functionally connecting the design hotel to its location. The result is a contemporary, reduced architecture that radiates calm and places the spirit of the place at its centre.
